We are well known by most dentists in the Fort Wayne, IN and surrounding areas for our well placed, esthetically, and functionally driven implants. With the advent of new advanced jaw bone augmentation and reconstructive techniques, impossible is hardly the norm at Fort Wayne Oral Maxillofacial Surgery & Implant Center. Simply see us for a consultation to determine whether you are a candidate and decide if dental implants are an option for you or not.
Dental implants have provided an ideal solution for replacing missing teeth. Whether you are missing one, several or all your natural teeth, dental implants are designed to feel and function like your very own.
Dr. Lugakingira uses SLA active surface implants which cut healing time by half as compared to conventional surfaces, and are FDA-approved to be restored within 6 weeks depending on individual patient needs. He is especially interested and performs same-day extractions, with implants placement, and temporary crown or denture placement. Why go without teeth?
Dental implants are titanium posts. The root implant is the most effective because it mirrors the size and shape of a patient's natural tooth. This implant is often as strong as the patient's original tooth, and sometimes stronger! Implants also help to preserve facial structure, preventing jaw bone deterioration that occurs when teeth are missing.
The implant or artificial root is placed into the jawbone under local or IV sedation anesthesia, then allowed to heal and integrate with the bone. Once the healing process is completed and the jawbone is attached to the implant, the patient returns to their dentist office where the implant is fitted with the new crown or denture. With the type of implants that we use, this process is shortened to 6-8 weeks, instead of the general norm of 3-8 months.
Our special protocol includes an in-office Pre-operative i-CAT scan, photos, and post-operative imaging to assure proper placement. All this is carefully discussed with you, and all copies are provided to your dentist, including operative findings.
We offer other financing options; please discuss this with our financial coordinator for a plan that is comfortable for you.
We offer CT-guided implants placement, zygomatic implants for severely atrophic maxilla, teeth extractions with immediate implants placement and immediate or early loading.
Post Implant Care
Although proper oral hygiene is always recommended for maintaining good dental health, it is especially important when a patient has received a dental implant. Bacteria can attack sensitive areas in the mouth when teeth and gums are not properly cleaned, thus causing gums to swell and jaw bones to gradually recede. Recession of the jawbone will weaken implants and eventually make it necessary for the implant to be removed. Patients are advised to visit their dentists at least twice a year to ensure the health of their teeth and implants. Dental implants can last for decades when given proper care.
